Fishing at Liptovská Mara

Liptovská Mara holds a special place for anglers and is considered one of the best-stocked carp waters in Slovakia.

The reservoir is rich in the following fish species:

Zander

Carp

Tench

Pike

Perch

Asp

Chub

Whitefish

Rainbow trout

Lake trout

Occasionally, you may also encounter catfish or eel.

NOTE:

Fishing is allowed from June 1 to March 15. Spin and bait fishing are permitted from June 15 to January 31.

For bottom and float fishing, two rods may be used; for spinning and fly fishing, only one rod is allowed. Anglers may keep a maximum of 2 carp, tench, pike, zander, catfish, or asp (or a combination thereof) per day, or up to 4 salmonid species including grayling and whitefish, with a total weight not exceeding 7 kg. Fishing enthusiasts will be pleased to know that despite high visitor numbers, catching a truly large fish is still possible. According to new guidelines from the Žilina Navigation Authority, part of the Bobrovník Bay is designated as a navigation lane where fishing is prohibited. Fishing is also prohibited from the pier at Marina Liptov. However, we remain friends of anglers — you can still set out on the water or rent a boat from us anytime.
